FAQ
Why does Wood Song use a bolt-on neck, unheard of in this price range?
Most guitar necks are seated with a dovetailed joint, which forms a secure bond between the neck and body of the guitar. However, once the angle of the dove joint is set, it is very difficult to change. This would not be a problem if guitar itself never changed. However, strings apply a bending force of 130-160 foot pounds of pressure across the neck of a guitar. Over time this causes the neck to pitch, raising the string action and introducing distortion of tone. The perfect solution would be to reset the neck, but this is difficult, involved, and expensive on a dovetail. A common quick fix is to lower the saddle or the bridge. This can restore the action, but at the price of reducing the tension across the strings. Lower tension means less sound out of the guitar box.
At Woodsong, we are dedicating to delivering guitars that play excellently over a lifetime. Our bolt-on neck is designed for easy adjustment. It can be taken off in less than 15 minutes and reset with shims or a re-cut. In no time, your guitar us up and running again. Want to tweek the action for your personal style? No problem! Taylor, Collings, Bourgeois, and Beard* guitar shops have all used this attachment technique successfully for years.
